Is the cute and lovable young Yoda from the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian” using subliminal messages to change young liberal minds?

The Disney+ original series The Mandalorian has received rave reviews from critics and viewers alike. The series is set after the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. The Mandalorian features a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic – but more importantly, there is Baby Yoda.

Young Yoda, or “Baby Yoda” as he is commonly referred to, seems innocent, but many viewers are saying that the series has an ulterior motive, and that the memes being generated by young people that feature the small, green humanoid alien are having an effect on young liberal minds. 

“Before Baby Yoda, I always voted Democratic. But after seeing several memes featuring Baby Yoda in a MAGA hat, I’ve changed my mind.”

As with many pop culture successes, The Mandalorian – more specifically, Baby Yoda – became the target of online memes. Young people flocked to the internet to make, post, and view memes that feature this cute and tiny humanoid that they were used to seeing in a much older form. 

Many of the memes seemed to lean conservative, which has caused quite a shift in the views of young voters within the Democratic party. 

Candy Blunt, a lifelong Democrat, responded to our request for an interview. She watched The Mandalorian and then went in search of young Yoda memes on the internet. She eventually found a group on Facebook that posts nothing but cute Baby Yoda Memes.

“Before Baby Yoda, I always voted Democratic. But after seeing several memes featuring Baby Yoda in a MAGA hat, I’ve changed my mind,” said Blunt. “Republicans are much cuter than I thought!”

Candy also told us it’s changing the way she’s thinking about dating, too.

“It’s changing the way I think about dating, too. Before, I never would have dated a man who was fiscally conservative and didn’t spend all of his money buying me toasty Cheez-its. But now I see the error of my ways.” 

Candy continues: “I used to be a hardcore baby-hating liberal who gave money to homeless pregnant women so they could have abortions but now I just give them red caps that read Baby Yaga on them.”
